I believe in my potential

teachersintiaras:

Happy 108th birthday, Dr. Seuss! You will forever be my most favorite author, and the one who inspired me to become a teacher.

Here is a picture of me and my best friend from 2 years ago. I was reminded today about the many reasons we are best friends and here are a few:

1. We never feel like we owe the other person something or that they owe us. Whether it is money or time or a present we don’t care if things are equal we just care about giving to the other.

2. We never fight. I am not saying we don’t get frustrated with each other because we do. But we say some rude comment get over it and move on. It is never mentioned again and we move on with our lives.

3. We understand each other. We are two completely different people but we still understand what they other person and how they are feeling, even if we don’t agree with it.

4. She doesn’t care if she is busy, if I need to vent she will listen (Like tonight we paused the movie 3 times so I could talk through stuff)

5 She just listens to me when I am upset. She knows me well enough to know when I am upset there is no reasoning with me. She lets me vent and then helps me work through the problem later.

6. We have a blast together. Whether it is watching movies, working on homework or eating what ever food we decided to have delivered that night. She can make any night fun just by her presence.

7. She stands up for me. Sometimes I have problems speaking up for myself but it is always nice to know that If I need help she will be there.

8. We do things the other person likes. I don’t necessarily like watching sports and she doesn’t necessarily feel the need to watch every movie Taylor Lautner is in. But we do it because we know the other person likes it.

9. She is an awesome person to live with. Best decision I have ever made.

10. We are more than best friends we are sisters. I know we will be at each others weddings and be in each others lives no matter what.

Anonymous asked: I really liked what you had to say about my post " For my Sister" and was wondering if you'd be okay with me re-posting it alongside the photo with your name or initials?

Sure that would be fine. Thank you :)

This picture describes my childhood perfectly. My sister was my one true friend growing up. I had lots of friends as a child. But we always drifted away for some reason whether it was the fact that I wasn’t cool enough to be friends with anymore or the fact we were going to different schools. But I learned early that friendships never lasted. My sister was always the one who I could tell my deep dark secrets too or who would just sit with me while neither one of us said anything at all. But now I am in a sorority and have amazing sisters. I know that our relationship is more sister-like then just a simple friendship. But part of me wonders if these relationships will end just like like the others or if they will be forever.

I love my sisterhood more than anything in the world. I am proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi and to have some of the greatest sisters on this earth.

“A mother is the truest friend you could ever have. Her love is selfless.”
—Anonymous

My mother is the best friend that I could ask for. I don’t know what I could of done with out her in my life. She is the one that I can tell every detail about what is going on in my life and she never judges. Friends may come and go but there is one person I know that I can always count on to be there, even when no one else is.

The truth

People always find it weird that I haven’t read the Harry Potter books even though I love the movies. I usually make some vague excuse about how I couldn’t get in to the books. But the truth is that every time I pick up one of  the books it brings up sadness. My mom bought me the first book before they were really popular. My dad told me that we were going to read it together. So that first night we read the first chapter. Then he went on business trip. When he came back he was too tired and we only read a couple pages in the 3 days he was home. Then monday came again and it all started over again. A couple of months went by and we never even made it to the part where they went to Hogwarts. Then, I put the book on the shelf to never be opened again. My dad is a great father and does his best to balance his work and his family. Now, I realize that my dad wasn’t trying to hurt my feelings he just had a lot going on. He worked long hours and couldn’t always make it home before I was in bed. But as a lonely 8 year old, all I wanted was for my Dad to have time to read me a book.

My top 10 memories with you

I am very happy to have you in my life. You have made a huge impact on my life even though you are only 4 years old. I don’t know how much longer I will be able to see you because things are so complicated right now. But instead of worrying about the future I would rather enjoy the great times we have had together. I was glad to be a part of your life for a while and one day I hope to see you again and to see how you have grown up, and to know that I had a small part in the person you became. So here are my top 10 memories with you and what they taught me and hopefully what they taught you.

10. Singing and Dancing like no one is watching. You always make me sing in the car and you always make me dance in my room, even though there is no music. Though I might have a lot to do I always stop to enjoy the moment. You taught me to loosen up and have fun.

9. The Zoo Going to the zoo was always a big deal. We had to pack snacks, the stroller, a change of clothes and then drive an hour to the city. But you didn’t know about all of the planning it took you just enjoyed a day out doors and looking at the animals. You taught me to look at things through the eyes of a child.

8. Watching Tv Cuddling on the couch watching really awful children’s shows is always fun. Though the shows make me question my sanity, I wouldn’t trade time with you for anything in the world. You taught me to realize how important the little moments are.

7. Talking to you on the phone A lot of the time I have known you we have been in different states. So hearing your voice on the phone and knowing that I matter to you even when I can’t be there. You taught me that distance is nothing compared to love.

6. Taking Pictures together. We could take pictures for hours. They are always silly and blurry but they are memories I will forever be able to look at and remember. You taught me to document all the moments in my life so that they will never be forgotten.

5.  Taking care of you when you were sick. You are crabby and fussy when you are sick. I almost always want to pull my hair out after a couple hours. But everything is worth it when I find that one thing that makes you feel better and you are grateful that I took the pain away. You taught me that there is nothing more gratifying than feeling needed.

4. Going to the library with you. I could spend hours with you reading the books and playing the learning games. I read book after book with no complaining. I followed you around as you played with every game multiple times. I felt so accomplished when you learned another letter or could talk about something we read in a book. You taught me that I will be a fantastic teacher.

3. The day I met you. You were a year old and the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. You waddled right up to me and let me play with you and hold you. My life would have been so different if I have never met you. You taught me that nothing happens on accident.

2. Your 3rd Birthday Party This might be the only birthday party I am every invited too but I am glad I could of been a part of at least one. It was so much fun to help you pick out decorations and to watch your face as you opened your gifts. You taught me that every day is a gift.

1. Christmas 2011 All you asked for was a red dress. It wasnt even christmas yet but I knew I had to get it for you.  So I made a big deal about Santa coming early to my house just for you. I went to Target a week before christmas to search through the picked over store to find you a red dress and red shoes. After 30 minutes I found the perfect outfit. Watching your face when you came down and saw the dress was the best present I could ask for. You taught me to believe in magic again.
